Flávia Nascimento- Biographie
Native du Brésil, Flávia Nascimento y commence sa carrière artistique comme comédienne diplômée du Théâtre Universitaire de Belo Horizonte. Elle fait alors notamment partie de la distribution de la pièce Les Sorcières de Salem, part en tournée pendant un an avec la comédie musicale Mulheres de Hollanda et cofonde le groupe de théâtre d’éducation populaire Cara-Cara, qui sensibilise les communautés à prendre soin de l’environnement. Comme elle chante depuis sa tendre enfance avec son père chanteur et guitariste, on fait vite de lui donner les rôles chantants dans toutes ces différentes productions.
C’est autour de 1998 que Flávia rencontre son futur mari et père de ses enfants, un Québécois coopérant-volontaire au Brésil pour le projet Cirque du Monde, chapeauté par le Cirque du Soleil. Animant elle-même les ateliers de cirque auprès des jeunes en difficultés du projet, Flávia démarre son parcours de clown et d’échassière. Après bien des aventures circassiennes au Brésil, le couple vient s’installer en 2001 dans la Ville de Québec même, la première ville d’adoption de Flávia.
Assez vite, cette lumineuse artiste polyvalente se fait connaître dans le paysage culturel de Québec. Flávia sillonne dans la Capitale les fêtes de quartier et de rue, les événements populaires, les festivals ainsi qu’une panoplie de spectacles bénéfices (Jeunes Musiciens du Monde, Fondation Gilles Kègle, etc.). Elle a même un parcours parallèle comme chef de file des bands musicaux Pé na Rua et Forrossanova, deux groupes à saveur brésilienne populaires à Québec. C’est sans compter sa carrière colorée de comédienne clownesque. Bref, partout où l’on veut faire éclater la fête, on fait appel à Flávia ! L’émission Belle et Bum l’a d’ailleurs invitée, aux commandes de Pé na Rua, lors de son passage à l’Impérial de Québec en 2007.
Au fil des années, à la tête de ses deux formations musicales, Flávia a, à plusieurs reprises, fait salle comble au Théâtre du Petit Champlain, de même qu’au Cercle. Après avoir investi temps et énergie à peaufiner son art et à se former en tant qu’artiste autonome à l’Ampli de Québec, c’est au début de 2014 qu’elle décide de se consacrer à part entière à sa chanson. Elle profite alors d’un voyage en famille au Brésil ainsi que d’une bourse remportée au concours entre les finissants de sa formation pour y graver son premier CD solo : un mini-album éponyme. L’affection du Québec pour la musique brésilienne est bien connue, et c’est cet album qui a servi à Flávia de carte de visite auprès des Québécois lors d’une belle lancée nationale !
Lors de ce voyage au Brésil, elle fait la connaissance de celui qui enregistrera et réalisera cette première galette, le musicien brésilien de plus de trente ans de carrière, Betinho Muniz. L’énergie s’installe instantanément entre les deux artistes. Il n’en faut pas plus pour que Flávia invite Muniz à séjourner chez elle un mois au Québec à l’automne 2014 pour continuer le travail ensemble. Déménageant avec sa famille à Sherbrooke, sa nouvelle ville d’adoption, Flávia se lance dans la production de son premier spectacle solo, s’offrant le grandiose Théâtre Granada de Sherbrooke, accompagnée par ses quatre musiciens, qu’elle surnomme affectueusement son Plus Petit Big Band. Le spectacle est un succès et Flávia enchaîne, ce même mois, des spectacles à l’Auberge Petite-Nation et, finalement, au festival Uma Nota à Toronto. C’est au cours de cette expérience que l’amitié entre Muniz et Flávia et leur partenariat musical se consolident, au point d’enregistrer les chansons d’un nouveau CD, un album complet cette fois, dont le lancement est prévu au printemps 2016.
L´été 2015 est riche de prestations pour Flávia et ses musiciens : concerts au Palais Montcalm de Québec et au Festival d’été de Québec, nombreuses prestations au Festival des traditions du monde de Sherbrooke, au Festival Luminato de Toronto puis, en novembre 2015, à Mundial Montréal, où elle remporte le Prix étoiles Stingray Musique pour une performance remarquable pendant l’événement. C’est ce spectacle que Flávia propose maintenant aux festivals du monde entier !

Flávia Nascimento- Biography
Born in Brazil, Flávia Nascimento starts her artistic career there as a graduated actress from the University Theatre in Belo Horizonte. She is notably a part of the distribution of the play The Cruscible, goes on tour for a year with the musical comedy Mulheres de Hollanda and cofounds the mass education theatre Cara-Cara, which raises awareness in the communities concerning the environment. Since she sings from a tender age with her singer and guitarist father, all of these different productions are fast to give her singing roles.
It’s around 1998 that Flávia meets her future husband and father of her children, a canadian volunteer from Québec who works for the Cirque du Monde project, overseen by the Cirque du Soleil. She herself gives circus workshops for the youths in the project, giving her the roots to grow as a clown and a stilts walker. After a lot of circus adventures in Brazil, the couple decides to travel in 2001 and establish themselves in Québec City, Flavia’s first adoptive city.
Very quickly, this luminous and versatile artist makes herself known in the cultural landscape of Québec. Flávia criss-crosses the City in its neighbourhood and street parties, its popular events, its festivals as well as an array of beneficial shows (Jeunes Musiciens du Monde, Fondation Gilles Kègle, etc...). She even has a parallel route as the leader of the musical bands Pé na Rua and Forrossanova, two groups of Brazilian flavor popular in Québec. This goes without mentioning her colorful career as a clown comedian. In short, every where people want to get the party started, they call on Flávia ! The television variety show Belle et Bum even invited her to take part in the event, at the reign of Pé na Rua, when they toured in Québec City at the Theatre Impérial in 2007.
At the head of these two formations, over the years, Flávia several times in a row sold out all the seats at the Theatre du Petit Champlain, as well as the Cercle. After investing time and energy polishing her art and graduating as an autonomous artist from the Ampli de Québec, it’s in the beginning of 2014 that she decides to devote herself solely on her singing. She takes advantage of a family trip to Brazil and of a grant won between the graduates to record her first solo CD, a self named mini-album. We all know the affection that Canada and Québec have for Brazilian music, so Flávia uses this album as a visiting card in what’s starting to be a great national breakthrough !
It’s during the same trip that she meets he who will record and direct this first CD, over 30 years career Brazilian musician Betinho Muniz. An immediate connection happens between the two artists. No more is necessary for Flávia to invite Muniz to come to Québec for a month in the fall of 2014, to continue working together. Moving with her family to Sherbrooke, her second adoptive city, Flávia launches herself in the production of her first big solo show and treats herself with Sherbrooke’s magnificent Granada theatre, along with her four accompanying musicians that she affectionately dubs her Smallest Big Band. The show’s a success, and Flávia carries on with shows at the Auberge Petite-Nation all the way finally to Toronto’s Uma Nota Brazilian Festival.
Flávia and her band’s musical performances are many in the summer of 2015: concerts at Québec City’s Palais Montcalm and Festival d’été de Québec, numerous appearances at the Festival des traditions du monde of Sherbrooke, Festival Luminato of Toronto and, in November 2015, Mundial Montréal, where she received the Stingray Rising Stars Award for a remarquable performance at the festival. Flávia now offers her show to festivals all over the world!
